Voyage to Zero
Voyage to Zero is a carbon insetting Programme to reduce freight customer’s Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with independently verified data via using second-generation biofuels made from waste streams on Swire Shipping vessels.
Through a book & claim chain of custody model, the programme enables freight customers to purchase and claim GHG savings even if their cargo is not transported by Swire Shipping.

Chief Executive Officer’s Message
“
Biofuel sustainability
We only procure biofuels certified by international recognised sustainability
standards, such as International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) and Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).
The procured biofuels (B100) could achieve at least 84% GHG emission reduction on a lifecycle basis, compared with the 94 gCO2e/MJ fossil fuel comparator in European Renewable Energy Directive (RED II).

Emission savings calculation
The emission savings are calculated compared with the reference fossil fuels on an energy equivalent basis.
All the voyage and fuel consumption data used for calculation are independently verified by a third-party compliance with the principles of ISO 17029 and ISO 14605.
How does it work
Step 1: Swire Shipping uses biofuels
Swire Shipping uses biofuels on its vessels and generates emission savings.
Step 2: Swire Shipping registers GHG savings
Emission savings are registered on a non-profit book & claim platform Katalist*, with independent verification.
Step 3: Customers buy GHG savings
Any customers can buy our emission savings to reduce their Scope 3 shipping emissions, even without shipping with us.
Step 4: Customers receive certificates
Paid customers will receive a certificate with verified data showing GHG savings, which they can claim in their reporting.
Katalist is an industry-wide registry developed by Fonden Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (MMMCZCS) and
Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)
