6-digit HS code requirement by Malaysian Customs (Effective 1st October 2018)

30/11/2021

With effect from 1st October 2018, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department requires the 6-digit HS code to be submitted during import/export manifest declaration.

Please note the following when submitting your shipping instructions:

  • 6-digit Cargo Harmonized System (HS) code to be stated clearly in the shipping instructions.
  • Where there are multiple commodities, HS codes for all commodities should be clearly listed.

Kindly ensure that the HS code is provided in an accurate and timely manner to facilitate the reporting of manifest information to Malaysian Customs.

Failure to comply could result in penalties by the Malaysian authorities and delays to cargo delivery if this information is not provided.

Please contact your local Swire Shipping Office for any assistance required.

Thank you for your support.
