General Advisory – Shipping Disruptions in Asia

17/07/2024

We wish to provide you with an update on the ongoing disruptions stemming from the Red Sea crisis, which has now exceeded 200 days.

In recent months, we have observed escalating port congestion in Singapore, directly affecting our sailing schedules. These disruptions have spread to impact other key transshipment and load ports in Asia, leading to feeder space shortages and transit delays that significantly affect cargo arrival times.

To manage this situation effectively, we recommend that our customers adjust their logistics planning and allocate an additional buffer time of 21 days for time-bound deliveries, especially for cargo originating or transshipping through Asia.

While we cannot predict the exact duration of these disruptions related to the Red Sea crisis, we anticipate that it may take some time before the situation fully normalises.

Swire Shipping operates a combination of services on weekly and fortnightly frequencies from Asia to North America, Oceania, and the South Pacific. Our team remains committed to providing timely updates and ensuring swift delivery of your shipments. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to working with you. If you have any questions, please contact your local Swire Shipping representative.
