Update: Westbound Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) – 8th Mar 2024
Due to the escalated situation in the Red Sea, Swire Shipping is experiencing a significant impact on our ability to deliver cargoes from Asian hub ports to destinations in European, and Red Sea ports.
Swire Shipping relies on strategic business partners to connect our expansive shipping network to areas not covered in our sphere of excellence. As a result of these unexpected and unpredictable disruptions securing capacity on this lane is currently coming at a significant cost increase.
In response Swire Shipping has introduced an Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) for this lane. Access to capacity for cargo departing Asian hubs after Chinese New Year is showing improvement, and in recognition Swire Shipping will further reduce the applicable westbound Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) from March 11th per the table below. EXS will continue to be invoiced to the freight payer.

Swire Shipping will continue to evaluate the impact of the situation with hope to withdraw the EXS as soon as operationally feasible; however, please note that it may also increase. The EXS will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis with the next update planned for March 22nd.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time, and Swire Shipping remains committed to taking all necessary steps to deliver cargo as intended.
