Update: Eastbound Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) – 8th Mar 2024
Due to the escalated situation in the Red Sea, Swire Shipping is experiencing a significant impact on our ability to deliver cargoes from Europe, Middle East, and Asian hub ports.
Swire Shipping relies on strategic business partners to connect our expansive shipping network to areas not covered in our sphere of excellence. As a result of these unexpected and unpredictable disruptions securing capacity on this lane is currently coming at a significant cost increase.
In response Swire Shipping has introduced an Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) for this lane. Access to capacity for cargo departing Europe is showing improvement, and in recognition Swire Shipping has reduced the applicable Eastbound Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) from February 14th per the table below. EXS will continue to be invoiced to the freight payer.
Date |   Tradelane  |  Dry/Reefer 20’  |  Dry/Reefer 40’  |
BL Date to 13/02/24 | Northern Europe, Scandinavia, UK, Mediterranean, Black Sea, North Africa, and Red Sea ports to World  | USD 500 / EUR 470 | USD 1000 / EUR 940 |
BL Date from 14/02/24 to 10/03/24 | USD 350 / EUR 325 | USD 700 / EUR 650 | |
BL Date from 11/03/24 | USD 275 / EUR 250 | USD 550 / EUR 500 |
Swire Shipping will continue to evaluate the situation with aim to withdraw the EXS as soon as operationally feasible; however, please note that it may also increase. The EXS will be reviewed fortnightly with the next update March 22nd.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time, and Swire Shipping remains committed to taking all necessary steps to deliver cargo as intended.
