East Timor – Tibar Bay Port Update

07/09/2022

Dear Valued Customers,

Swire Shipping would like to share with our customers the exciting news from Timor Leste. Many of you are aware that in 2016, Timor Ports SA, a subsidiary of Bolloré ports was awarded the concession to design, build and operate a new Terminal located at Tibar Bay, located 10km to the west of Dili. The new terminal is expected to be ready to start cargo handling operations at the end of September 2022 at which time all imports and exports will transfer to Tibar.

This new state of the art terminal will allow a much wider range and size of vessel to call in Timor Leste, predicted to result in more efficient operations and services for both carriers and our customers.

Swire Shipping is currently finalizing with Timor Ports SA what the new operating environment will look like and the final timing of the change, we will advise further on this soon.

Any upgrade of facilities comes with a cost. We are looking at the Tibar cost increases that will need to be recovered via updated local charges. As soon as this is finalized, we will advise of any updates required.

We thank you for your understanding and appreciate your continued support.

Please contact your local customer service representative should you have any questions.
