Advisory: Yangtze River Protection Law effective 1st March 2021

03/03/2021

Dear Valued Customer,

The Yangtze River Protection Law (effective 1st March 2021) forbids the transportation of “highly toxic chemicals” and “other dangerous chemicals” in the Yangtze River Basin. Please find attached the list of prohibited dangerous commodities (with their UNDG numbers) under this new law.

To comply with the new regulations, and with effect from 1st March 2021 (sailing date), Swire Shipping will not be able to accept all Dangerous Goods (DG) applications for the listed commodities for load, discharge, transit (including cargo remaining onboard), and transhipment in Shanghai Waigaoqiao (WGQ) terminals.

Swire Shipping shall also be unable to accept all DG applications for the listed commodities for other ports of load/discharge that require transit or transhipment in Shanghai WGQ.

For current shipments meant for discharge or transit/transhipment in Shanghai WGQ after 1st March 2021, Swire Shipping will take necessary measures to discharge these shipments at an earlier port of call before Shanghai WGQ and work with cargo interests to ensure a smooth delivery.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Please contact your local Swire Shipping office for any assistance. \

*Including but not limited to waste/scrap metals, waste paper, waste plastics, waste metals, waste chemicals
