Swire Shipping is committed to decarbonising our operations, which in turn reduces emissions within our customers’ and partners’ supply chains.
With the revamp of our North West Australia Direct (NWD), Swire Shipping now offers customers in and out of North West Australia a shorter route to market, significantly reducing supply chain CO2Â emissions and facilitating improved inventory management.
How can we reduce your carbon footprint?
Traditional shipping solutions have routed cargo from or to the Pilbara via Fremantle, adding 1700km to the cargo journey by road and significantly impacting CO2 emissions per container shipped.
Trucking one 20ft container from Fremantle to Port Hedland emits approximately 2.98 tonnes of CO2.
Our customers can now ship directly to Port Hedland on our North West Australia Direct Service. This reduces transit times by up to 10 days* and eliminates the extra step of trucking containers from Fremantle to Port Hedland, saving CO2 emissions by up to 2.98 tonnes per 20ft container shipped.
