Bangladesh – Mandatory Declaration of Gross Weight on the Bill of Lading as per Verified Gross Mass (VGM) for containerized goods

20/02/2024

Swire Shipping has received notification from the National Board of Revenue through their Memorial No: 08.01.0000.066.99.021/61 dated 07th Feb 2024 that all containerized goods must comply with the Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Declaration effective from 16th February 2024. Please refer to the attached Circular.

The advisory has specified that Verified Gross Mass (VGM) information should be included in the designated XML (Tag) when submitting the Bill of Lading (BL) through ASYCUDA World System effective immediately. This notification applies to Master Bill of Lading (MBL) and direct Master Bill of Lading (HBL) filled by the Shipping Agents. This notification will also apply to all in-transit Import containers and Export containers leaving Bangladesh effective 16th February 2024.

You are requested to please comply with the requirements and ensure that the Bill of Lading (BL) reflects Cargo Gross Weight, Container Tare Weight and Total Gross weight separately which must match with the weight mentioned on the VGM declaration.

Please contact your local Swire Shipping representative for more information.
