Update: Westbound Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS)
Due to the escalated situation in the Red Sea and the resulting impact on Commercial Shipping in the area Swire Shipping is experiencing a significant impact on the ability to deliver cargoes from Asian hub ports to destinations in Europe, and Red Sea ports.
Swire Shipping relies on strategic business partners to connect our expansive shipping network to areas not covered in our sphere of excellence. As a result of these unexpected and unpredictable disruptions securing capacity on this lane is currently coming at a significant cost increase.
Swire Shipping is no longer able to sustain the level of cost increases and delays to cargo delivery may also be experienced. However, our goal remains to keep our customers updated and their supply chains open.
As a result, Swire Shipping is applying an Emergency Export Surcharge (EXS) as per the table below which will increase with effect from January 15th Westbound from Asia.
The EXS will be payable by the freight payer.
Date | Tradelane | Dry/Reefer 20’ | Dry/Reefer 40’ |
BL Date to 14/01/24 | World to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, UK, Mediterranean, Black Sea, North Africa, and Red Sea ports | USD 2850 | USD 5300 |
BL Date From 15/01/24 | World to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, UK, Mediterranean, Black Sea, North Africa, and Red Sea ports | USD 3250 | USD 6100 |
Swire Shipping will continue to evaluate the impact of the situation with hope to withdraw the EXS as soon as operationally feasible; however, please note that it may also increase. The EXS will be reviewed weekly with the next update January 18th.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time, and Swire Shipping remains committed to taking all necessary steps to deliver cargo as intended.
