Trans Tasman Service Upgrade

Tonnage Upgrade Announcement

Swire Shipping is pleased to announce the upgrading of their tonnage deployed within the Trans Tasman (TRT) service during October 2013. The service will deploy two China Navigation Company (CNCo) owned 25,500 dwt Multi Purpose vessels on a average 32 days round voyage delivering 22 voyages per annum. Accordingly, the “Chengtu” and “Chekiang” will move into the TRT trade on the Australian coast with the following phase in dates:

  • Chengtu v1317E ETA Newcastle 8th October
  • Chekiang v1318E ETA Newcastle 22nd October

The service rotation will be as follows:

Melbourne / Port Kembla / Newcastle / Brisbane (monthly) / Marsden Point /
Auckland / Tauranga / Napier / Lyttelton (monthly) / Nelson / Melbourne

Please refer to the attached schedule for updated load and discharge dates. Key points to note:

  • Westbound Australian discharge dates/vessel for v1315W / v1316W remain unchanged
  • V1317E – Melbourne cargo to load on Tasman Bay and transship in Port Kembla to Chengtu. Port Kembla and Newcastle cargo to load on Chengtu direct.
  • V1318E – Melbourne and Port Kembla cargo to load Tasman Sky and transship in Newcastle to Chekiang
  • TRT Service to recommence direct Napier calls from Chengtu v1317W
