Port Congestion Fee - Suva

1 March 2013

Port Congestion Fee (PCF) - Suva
Asian services

Over the past 12-18 months we have seen a significant increase in berth and port congestion in Fiji. This congestion has a serious impact to all services calling Fiji.

Swire Shipping cannot continue to absorb these costs incurred waiting for a berth, slow operations in port and having to burn more fuel to speed up vessels to maintain schedule integrity. As a result we will be introducing a Congestion Fee to recover costs incurred for these delays.

This Congestion Fee (PCF) will be introduced for all cargoes Asia/Europe to and from Suva effective vessels arriving 1st April 2013 and will be applied by our agents Pacific Agencies (Fiji) Ltd to all importers and exporters as a local fee. The rate to apply is USD97.00 per container and USD5.70 per revenue ton for break bulk.

We will continue to monitor the situation in Lautoka and at this stage Swire Shipping will continue to absorb the costs and apply the PCF in Suva only.

Effective Vessel/Voyage: Kweichow v1306 - ETA Suva 11th April

We regret the additional local cost to Fijian customers & businesses; however this surcharge is necessary for us to continue to offer regular and reliable shipping services to and from Fiji.

Swire Shipping is constantly monitoring congestion in Fiji and will continue to review the level of the PCF on a six monthly basis with the next review scheduled for mid October 2013.

Please do not hesitate to contact your local sales representative for more information.

Yours sincerely
