Lae & Port Moresby

Dear Valued Customer,

Swire Shipping has undertaken their planned quarterly review of delays due to congestion in Lae and Port Moresby in relation to the levy for the Port Congestion Fee (PCF).

We are pleased to advise that conditions have improved in the last period resulting in a decrease to the following levels:

  • Containers : USD90/teu
  • Breakbulk : USD5.5/rt

These changes will be effective with 30 days notice for shipments with a Bill of Lading date on or after 15th March. The nominated vessels applicable are listed below:

PNG Import
Shansi V1304S
Pine1 V1304S
Kokopo Chief V1313N
Ninghai V1304N

PNG Export
Yunan V1313N
Kwangsi V1303S
Island Chief V1311S

The PCF will be payable in Papua New Guinea by consignee (imports) or shipper (exports).
Kindly note the following application for transshipment cargo:

To/From Australia/New Zealand - Congestion Surcharge will apply to all cargo transshipped via Lae or Port Moresby

To/from Asia/Europe – Congestion Surcharge will only apply to cargo transshipped to/from Wewak, Vanimo, Kieta & Buka.

Swire Shipping is constantly monitoring congestion in Lae and Port Moresby and will continue to review the level of the PCF on a quarterly basis with the next review scheduled for mid June 2013.
