Emissions Control Area Fee (ECF)

Dear Valued Customer,

Please be advised that an Emissions Control Area Fee (ECF) is now being applied to all exports and imports between West Coast North America and Australia / New Zealand.

Due to the recently increases in price of Low Sulphur Fuel Oil, an increased rate will apply for all cargo loaded on or after 1st September 2012

Swire Shipping West Coast North America ECF will apply at the following levels:

Break Bulk - from $1.07 to $1.74 per rvt
20’ Containers - from $18.00 to $29.58 per TEU
40’ Containers - from $36.00 to $59.15 per FEU

This surcharge is required in order to cover the mandatory use of Low Suphur Fuel Oil. Effective August 1st, 2012, all vessels must abide by North American ECA regulation and are required to burn 1% Sulphur Fuel Oil within the ECA, designated as 200 nautical miles off the US Coastline. More
